Great Virginia Beach Parks to Visit on Your Vacation

Simply put, Virginia Beach has some great parks. While vacationing in Virginia Beach, you can stay on your exercise program by visiting a couple of Virginia Beach parks and partaking in the activities they have to offer. You can cycle through the parks or walk their many wooded trails. See all that Virginia Beach parks have to offer - you will be glad that you did. You can take the family to the water park, or go for a picnic and let the kids swing and play in the sand. Taking the kids to the park is a great way for them to unleash all of their bottled up energy from the long trip.

Mt. Trashmore Park

Visiting Mt Trashmore Park, while vacationing in Virginia Beach, is a great way to keep that exercise program going. Mt. Trashmore Park has 61 stairs you can climb to get to the top of the mountain. Do you want a challenge? Forget the stairs and climb the mountain itself. Better yet, run up the mountain. Take the whole family and make it a family challenge. Be sure and take your kite to the top of the mountain with you. This is the perfect spot to fly a kite, and do not forget to let your kids have a hand at flying it too. Mt. Trashmore Park has a great area for kids to play. They have sandboxes and swings for the kids as well as every kind of monkey bar and jungle gym activity you can think of. Take the kids, and let them go have a great time playing!

Mt. Trashmore Park also has a very stunning lake. Be sure to take some bread to feed the ducks or you could always feed them your leftovers from your picnic. Mt. Trashmore has picnic tables on the lake as well. Another great feature that Mt. Trashmore has is a walking path around the lake and the mountain. There are also plenty of restrooms available for washing up too.

Redwing Park

Virginia Beach has many parks, but one of the best is Redwing Park. This park is a great place to visit, especially if you are vacationing with your dog. Redwing Park has a dog park, which has a fenced in area where you can take your dog and let him play with the other dogs. You never know, he just might make a new friend.

The dog park is well away from the children’s play area, so you do not have to worry about smaller children being around larger dogs. Redwing Park has a very nice area to take your kids to play. One nice feature is the roped off play areas by age. The first area is for the smaller kids, ages 2 to 6 years old. In this area, you will find age appropriate play equipment. Redwing Park even has baby swings for the smaller kids that cannot swing on their own yet. The smaller swings are great in that you will not have to worry about your 2 year old falling backwards out of the swing. Regular swings for the children that can swing unattended are available in this area as well. The next area is for children ages 6 years of age and older, and has plenty of swings and monkey bars as well. The playground equipment found in this area is more for the older kids as it can be a bit more challenging.

Redwing Park in Virginia Beach has many picnic areas also. You can picnic in the wooded areas or open areas with benches. It is nice to pack a lunch and make a day of it. Does it look like rain? That is no problem at Redwing Park! The park also has covered shelters available for reserve. Call ahead and get your name on the list if it looks like it might rain. There is no need to miss the wonderful park because of a little sprinkle.

Be sure to bring your tennis rackets and basketball to the park. Redwing Park has a tennis court and basketball court for your enjoyment. Get the whole family involved in a basketball game or play a game of HORSE on the tennis court with your spouse while your kids play on the playground. Whatever it is you decide to do at Redwing Park on your vacation, you will have a good time and so will your family.

Ocean Breeze Water Park

Ocean Breeze Water Park is family oriented and a whole lot of fun. Their children’s water area is the best in the area. Equipped with a large wading pool and a pirate ship, your kids are bound to have a grand time. The children’s area of Ocean Breeze Water Park is more for children 6 years of age and under, especially those that cannot swim. The children’s area has miniature water slides and inner tube floats. Your kids will have a blast! Ocean Breeze Water Park also has life jackets and inner tubes available for rent.

The adults can have some fun in the sun at Ocean Breeze Water Park too. For the older kids and adults, Ocean Breeze Water Park has a wave pool set up to simulate an ocean wave about every 15 minutes. It is lots of fun! Of course, they have about 16 water slides and swimming area available to those who can and want to swim as well.
